Event Details
This talk will cover some of the frontiers in Varroa control research, spanning novel chemical treatments to bee breeding and colony genetic health, as well as some features on how parasites can combine to cause problems that we need to overcome. We'll also touch on how pesticide exposure is often the secret villain behind why some colonies or apiaries suffer from lots of parasites even though you're treating them the same as your other colonies.
SPEAKER DETAILS:
Dr. Lewis Bartlett
Dr Lewis Bartlett is a faculty assistant research scientist at the University between the departments of Entomology and Ecology. He works on infectious disease and parasite control alongside honey bee biology and health. He has worked with and kept bees for over ten years across the UK, California, and Georgia.
