Join us for an in-depth talk on bee health and integrated pest management with David Westervelt, US Technical Consultant for Vita Bee Health. Westervelt will cover current treatment strategies for varroa mites, including the use of Varroxan OA strips, and share the latest updates in varroa testing and hive health practices.

This session offers valuable insights for beekeepers at all levels and a chance to learn directly from one of the most experienced voices in the field of hive management and honey bee health.

David is a longtime beekeeper and the US technical consultant for Vita Bee Health.

With over 50 years of experience, Westervelt brings a wealth of knowledge from his work as a bee inspector, researcher, and educator. He continues to support beekeepers through roles in Bees Beyond Borders and the Florida Beekeepers Association.

All participants at our bee yard activities or any other CBA-sponsored event involving live bees must bring their own personal protective equipment designed specifically for beekeeping. Participants are responsible for ensuring they have complete coverage of bare skin with light-colored clothing (nothing black) and must wear a proper bee veil or bee suit and closed-toed shoes at all times. Bees sting and inject venom, so if you are concerned about your reaction, please consult a physician before attending.
