July is typically honey harvest time but can also be marked by a nectar dearth. During a dearth, removing honey can provoke a robbing frenzy but there are a few tips and tricks that make the process go smoothly. It’s also time to monitor for mites and the weather factors into treatment options, so bring your questions about harvest, mites, or whatever else is on your mind.
Note: Due to Covid19 restrictions Bee Talks is temporarily being held virtually using Zoom.
Bee Talks are held on the second Thursday of each month* at the Rockfall Foundation (27 Washington Street in Middletown) or via Zoom. The foundation operates in the historic deKoven House where there is ample parking and convenient public lots for additional paid parking.
Bee Talks are led by Bill Hesbach, owner of Wing Dance Apiary in Cheshire, EAS-Certified Master Beekeeper and graduate of the University of Montana’s Master Beekeeping Program.
